Care through Medicaid

Due to current administrative regulations, we are regretfully not able to provide medical care to individuals who are enrolled in Medicaid at this time.

What this means for care at The Iris Center

In Colorado, providers who are not enrolled with Medicaid cannot bill Medicaid for covered services, and they also cannot charge Medicaid members directly for those same covered services, even if the visit would be low cost or no cost. Because many of the services offered at The Iris Center fall into categories that Medicaid typically covers, we are not permitted to provide that care to Medicaid-covered patients at this time.

We know this is disappointing and frustrating. The Iris Center was created with the hope of including Medicaid-covered patients in a space that centers access, affirmation, and community care. This limitation comes from the way Medicaid is structured, not from a lack of desire to care for you.

If these rules change

If future changes to Medicaid rules, coverage, or program structure create a safe and compliant path for us to see Medicaid-covered patients, we will revisit this immediately and share updates widely.

If you have Medicaid and need care

If you are enrolled in Medicaid and looking for affirming care, you are welcome to email us. We can offer recommendations for clinics and providers who participate in Medicaid and may be able to support your needs.
